SAVMA is proud to celebrate Women’s History Month and International Women's Day. In 2020, women made up 64% of employed veterinarians. While there are numerous notable women throughout veterinary history and present, we highlight a few firsts:
This week, we celebrated the legacy of Martin Luther King Jr on MLK Day. King was a non-violent activist critical in the protests against racial discrimination in the 1960’s Civil Rights Movement. We can honor MLK’s vision, message, and cause today by continuing to uplift and center black voices in veterinary medicine and in our continued support of Black Lives Matter. As SAVMA, we aim to do so by advocating to make Diversity, Equity and Inclusion a priority and standard in the profession. We recommend the BLM resources compiled by VOICE @vet.voice.national.
We have a great opportunity for you to recognize someone who has went above and beyond for our profession!
